NEW VAPING REGULATION CHANGES

RELAX. EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE. 

As of November 11, 2020, the Smokefree Environments and Regulated Products (Vaping) Amendment Act is in effect. It aims to reduce smoking prevalence and tobacco consumption in New Zealand and be at the forefront of tobacco control in the world. 

Recently, as of August 2023, the government has released new amendments to these vaping regulations included in this act. 

Here's what you need to know:

• All workplaces, including restaurants and bars, must be smoke and vape-free.
• Approved Vaping Premises must be at least 300m from schools or marae. 
• Selling vaping products to anyone under 18 is prohibited.
• There are safety standards that vaping products must meet before being sold.
• Disposable/ single-use products 
• Reusable devices 
• Vape Juices

Don’t worry though, we’ll communicate these changes with you along the way.

What does it mean for you?

• By  December 21, 2023, all single-use/ disposable devices sold must have the following features: 

1. A child safety mechanism* 
2. Removable battery

• By  March 21, 2024, all reusable/pre-filled pod devices sold must have the following features:

1. A child safety mechanism*
2. Removable battery
3. Nicotine salts must not exceed 28.5mg/mL

• By  March 21, 2024, all vape juice flavours must limit flavour descriptions on vaping products and their packages to 1 or 2 flavour names listed in a list on the regulations provided by the government. Click here to view that list.

*A child safety mechanism would require at least 2 simultaneous or 5 sequential operations before the device is activated AND automatically deactivate the device in less than 10 minutes after the vaping has stopped.

Are your flavours going to change? 

No. Your vape juice flavours will taste exactly the same. No recipes or formulas will be changed. We will only be changing our vape juice flavour names to meet the requirements under the new regulations. We will do our best to make sure you can still recognise your favourite flavours. 

Would your refillable pods or pre-filled pods still be available even if your favourite device is discontinued? 

Yes! We will continue to stock the refillable and pre-filled pods that you need. The regulation only limits our sale to devices that are non-compliant with the new regulations, but we will continue to serve your refillable and pre-filled pod needs..
